Suflosi: Surface Float Sink
An Alba by Shangguan Yi (608?-664), freely translated by John Cayley. Over time, the state of each passage, here each couplet, will change: sometimes 'surfacing,' sometimes 'floating,' sometimes 'sinking.' These states are defined in terms of the appearance of literal alternates for orthographically 'correct' glyphs, or by their possible disappearance in the case of 'sinking.' This pieces was made, in part, as a programming exercise for both Java/Processing and now Javascript/RiTa.js. The underlying processes were developed for Cayley's early Overboard which is described in a short article for dichtung-digital.
