Aurature - Recordings

Towards the close of 2014, I decided to work, more consciously and decisively, with and in aurature. This page of the programmatology site provides simple, more or less direct access to my initial recorded experiments, proofs of concept, and first performances. Some of these will be developed from or developed into full-blown works, details of which may be found elsewhere on this site.

To be with you - TTS & Char(acter)

The To be with you series experiments with voice - neutral voice, artificial voice, acousmatic voice, voice and its relationship to the reader.
This recording was generated by OSX speech synthesis using the Apple-supplied 'high quality' Text to Speech voice 'Oliver.' The original text was typed up in an extraordinary text editor that is under development by Gideon Goldin. Goldin's Char(acter) allows the writer simply to click anywhere on a surface and type. It also immediately renders all text addressable and accessible to code, code that can be composed on the same surface as the text. This editor thus gives instant programmatic access to OSX speech synthesis amongst many other potentialities.
This version of To be with you was first presented during a group reading at Ada Books, Providence, Dec 6, 2014.

To be with you - Reaper FX 1

More or less the same text as that for the above example, but read and recorded by the author, with an initial effects treatment.
First presented for 'WordHack,' Babycastles Gallery, NYC, Dec 18, 2014.
